Roundtable: On Palestinian Studies and Queer Theory

By Nadine Naber et al., 2018

What is queer theory? Why is it important? What can it tell us about Palestine? What can Palestine add to the study of sexuality? These questions lie at the heart of the effort motivating this special issue. We sent these questions to a number of Palestinian and Arab scholars and activists. Their responses were varied and occasionally in tension with each other, reflecting the diverse perspectives and experiences of the participants. We feature them here as the beginning of a discussion that we hope will further inform Palestinian academic and political work. Nadine Naber, Sa’ed Atshan, Nadia Awad, Maya Mikdashi, Sofian Merabet, Dorgham Abusalim, and Nada Elia.
