This slideshow was created for the popular Zoom info session, Singing on Testosterone: An Online Info Session for Trans & Nonbinary People who Sing! It covers basic information about the process of voice change from testosterone therapy; the 5 stages of voice change, including temporary transition symptoms and permanent changes to the voice which occur in each stage; voice training advice for each stage of voice change; some common challenges with singing after voice change with T; and more advice for training the voice after the process of voice change is complete.

I’ve been taking T for about a year now, and I’m finding my voice stops working around C above Middle C. Reading this infographic really helped ease my mind about whether I’ll get those notes back once I stop using T in the next year or so. I’m a classically trained mezzo-soprano by nature, and my high notes are important to me.
I highly recommend this infographic for anyone struggling with their voice during transition.
Wow! Information is power. I’m not a classically trained singer or anything, I just enjoy belting in the car. But it’s been a little unsettling to go for a note and have no sound come out at all. It’s nice to know that my voice will eventually settle in and I can work on having a big range again (just deeper).
